RESIDENT EVIL 3: EXTINCTION Movie Review

Summary: Resident Evil 3: Extinction starts off almost right where Resident Evil 2 left off.  The world has succumbed to the T-Virus and has turned into a desolate wasteland.  There are no more lakes and oceans or places where there was snow, there’s only sand and dry earth.  Survivors of the T-Virus epidemic have to stay on the move in order to stay safely away from hordes of the undead.

resident_evil_extinction.jpgAlice’s story returns, with her searching the country in order to find a secret Umbrella Research Facility.  Here, there is apparently no infection and there may even be a cure for anyone infected with the Virus.

Carlos’s story (yes, he’s in this one too) starts off with him and his group of travelers searching the country for a place where they can stay and not have to worry about the infection.

Review:This movie is exactly what an action movie enthusiast would want to see.  I am one of those people.  I liked all of the special effects in this movie, from the explosions to the digital effects.  The camera work on this movie is usually quite good.  But the same problem I have with movies keeps coming up more and more; lighting.  If the room is too dark for the actor to see, it’s probably too dark for you to see too.  I often find myself standing up on my couch just to see what’s going on in the movie because it’s too dark. Hopefully this problem will be fixed when it comes out to buy/rent.

This is reportedly the final project in the Resident Evil trilogy, but I got a whiff of some juicy info; they are still interested in making more films based on the series.  I heard that the next installment will be a spin-off starring ‘Claire Redfield’ as the main character.  And when asked, Milla Jovovich said she “would happily reprise her role as Alice if she was ever asked to.”
